Most Obscure

Postby gobbleskat on Sat Apr 30, 2011 2:21 am

Juese and I got into a conversation tonight about obscurity in X-Strike productions. It led me to wonder: What is the MOST obscure joke/reference we have made over the years? There's been a lot, and we definitely have made some jokes just for us. What did you get...just barely, and appreciate all the more for it's inclusiveness?

It's late, and I'm in the wrong forum. Man, Street Fighter X Tekken looks cool....

It's only been said once in all of your films. But, I think I can speak for Rez and myself that our favorite line ever spoken in cinema history is still the "Fucked by an Angel" line.

I'm not entirely sure if that counts as obscure.

Naw I'm gonna rule that one out as it's not a reference. Or at the least, Touched by an Angel as a title is known enough. More like "Hey was that a line from Transformers the Movie?" "Did they really just reference Lilo and Stitch?"

Ohana means family was a good one. I also like Michael Reynolds. Especially because it's NOT a reference to Illbleed!

Any Eternal Darkness reference is obscure. Silent Horror, I'm looking at you.

Mike Reynolds is a kid I went to high school with. Not a reference.

The "Hatchet" reference from Silent Horror these days could be considered quite obscure.

Well, to be honest if you exclude the normal X-Strike faithful fans just about all of them are strange references. A P. Rappa reference inside of Off Campus is the ultimate strange reference for anyone that's new. I think there are more references to internally known jokes than anything else. After that they all tend to fall in general lines.

This is hardly obscure, but I've always been a little surprised that more people didn't get the "Airplane" references in "Project Snake." I remember going to the screening at AMA in 2006 and being the only one in my row who seemed to get it.

Um, yeah, I know. Read the whole line again there, buddy. I listened to the RCR commentary. A bunch of times.

I can't really think of any right now, but I did enjoy this one in the latest Vic Tokai: "That might just be the MacGuffin I need." Pretty sure that was from Sidequest, but was then later used during the MAGFest Improv a couple years ago. At least, if my memory is right...

Ross's character from Silent Horror or the "Awful zombies" line from RCR?
