Welcome Back PSN

Postby Jakanden on Mon May 16, 2011 7:32 pm

PSN came back online this weekend (starting second time through Portal 2 co-op) and Sony finally announced the compensation for the US: http://www.1up.com/news/welcome-back-ps ... me-choices

Update: The North American PlayStation Blog has posted details on the local welcome back program. As it turns out, it contains a slightly different selection of games than what was posted (and then pulled) for Europe earlier.
Once the PlayStation Store is restored, PSN users will be able to download two of the following PS3 games for free: Dead Nation, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD, and Wipeout HD + Fury. PSP users will get two of the following: LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers, Pursuit Force, and Killzone Liberation.

Users will also be able to check out some free movie rentals over the course of a weekend; details on that will be coming soon. 30 days of free PlayStation Plus time will be offered to non-subscribers; existing subscribers will get an additional 60 days. Music Unlimited subscribers will get a free 30-day subscription. Lastly, 100 free items in PlayStation Home will be soon released for users to download.

Free Infamous and Dead Nation along with 60 days extra Plus (I have plus already) for free? I can live with that. I had my online only credit card on PSN so there was nothing there to steal (already canceled) and I no longer live at the address they had on record so I am not too worried identity theft. I am glad I never got around to calling the credit card company and updating that info after my recent move.

I can fully understand why most people are pissed at that though and I'm sure this is small compensation for them. They definitely fucked themselves over on this one.

That's not too bad at all actually.

The card that I had associated with my PSN account expired at the beginning of the month and also had an old address attached to it so I'm not worried either.
I'm out like the gout.

What happened to that year of credit protection?

I was also hoping for better game selection (really wanted Trine), but I'll have fun with InFamous.

You will get your activation number for the credit monitoring service via email later on.

100 free items in Home? Wish I had a ps3 now! Harhar. Must say, that's a pretty shit choice of games really. I mean I guess they can only really put Sony published games on the free list but still, aren't they all games pretty much anyone who wanted to play them would have already done so by now?
Sorry if i have bad grammar and spelling, blame touchscreen phones...

I guess it's good that it's at least up and running?

I know my sister will be happy. I think she had a mild stroke at some point.
