Double Fine Adventure!!!!

Do everyone has probably seen by now that Double Fine is running a Kickstarter campaign for one of their new games, a classic Point and Click Adventure game that will be entirely funded by the dollars of we the people. And it WILL be funded since after only a day, the campaign has already well surpassed the goal of $400,000 with over a month left to go. This is exciting for a few reasons. First, I'm excited about the game and I'm really excited to be able to watch the Double Fine process in action. I'm excited to see what Double Fine can do creatively without having to adhere to a publishers guidelines. Mainly though, I'm really excited to see how this whole things works out and what it could mean for the future of funding video games. Its empowering for Double Fine but it's also empowering for us as gamers since we get to choose whether or not we support the idea of a project before it even goes into development. I'm pumped, and despite my employment situation I'll probably be throwing in at least the $15 to get access to the documentary series and the game itself.
I'm out like the gout.

I read about this somewhere, and I've gotta say that I'm excited for the exact same reasons. The future implications of this are potentially really, really cool.

I think I heard a rumor that if this project turns out well we very well could be looking at a Psychonaughts 2. Though I can't confirm this just yet.

No that's a removed entity. It's been an amazing week for Double Fine. The kickstarter game is one thing, but on Psychonauts 2 Tim Schafer got a response from Notch, the Minecraft man with lots of Minecraft money, who wants to publish it. So they're in talks now. But, the attention from the kickstarter will certainly help that project.

Yeah, let's not overlook the fact that Double Fine might be changing the way games are funded TWICE in one week. Twice in two days really. Not every company is going to see the success that Double Fine is with this model but it opens some interesting avenues to see things produced. I'd be really interested to see Capcom fire up a Mega Man Legends III Kickstarter, if just to shut up the people who keep whining about Mega Man Legends III. Something tells me that Japan would be about the last ones to try something like this but damn if that wouldn't be the perfect way to do that game.

They're up to $1.8million at the moment!
I'll throw em a few quid when I get paid, i'd like the doc, plus the game which I would be buying anyway (all donators are getting DRM free copies of the game for PC, mac and mobile devices) and I always like helping support projects i'm interested in helping. And it' Tim Schafer. He's awesome. I even had a conversation with him on Twitter about jury service once.
Sorry if i have bad grammar and spelling, blame touchscreen phones...

2 MILLION

Most people probably saw but they released a video last week. Confirmed for PC, MAC, Linux, iOS and Android devices. Full English language voice acting and translation into German, Spanish, Italian and French.
