I haven't had any real problems aside from mine being a bit TOO sensitive as opposed to a dead zone. The button config doesnt bother me since there are only three buttons you use and all are in a row.

Tim, regarding the podcast where you said you were wondering why no other game used the slow down mechanic - ESPGaluda does it (called Kakusei).

Question: The Observatory boss has an insta-kill attack from the floating red tower. How does one manage to avoid or derail it? I can get past by having a lucky attempt after a few continues, but I feel like I am missing something obvious.

I just kept my plane all the way to the left side and always came out fine.

I managed to get this game last night as well, and I have to say it's a great shooter. There's definitely a good story going along, and the slowdown mechanics is a nice touch. On story mode, that game is still very forgiving (compaired to playing a Cave shooter). That insta-kill laser section with the garbage took me for a loop, because I didn't bother to listen to "Stay with the garbage".

As far as the dead zone, I think it's because the game was designed to be played with an analog stick. That is, you can move very slightly or full speed using the stick. My arcade stick was having issues earlier so I couldn't confirm that the design was meant for a pad. But solid game, and well worth the price.
