Well technically I'm getting a hold of you guys through Games for Windows Live which connects to the same service. Sometimes I'll be playing a game on the PC and listening to the podcast at the same time for added nerd value, and I'll shoot you a quick message while waiting to respawn or what have ya without having to quit out.
I wish I could enjoy the Scott Pilgrim universe as some of you do. I read through the volumes after heavy recommendation, and upon finishing it I was so disappointed that it angered me. It was that type of frustrating lack of satisfaction. That said, I can see the movie and game panning out to be decent given it can be a visually fun series, but the literary content was consistently painful. I don't think I've ever actually groaned out loud while reading until now. At least I tried. It did make me smile once when the X-Strike move was given its own big panel.
I'm almost tempted to pick up the new co-op Castlevania even though I was burned out on the series back during the Game Boy Advance sequels. Buuuut I've already dumped my summer of arcade points into Hydro Thunder and Monday Night Combat and so far those have been very satisfying. Anybody else here plan on picking these up or what? Monday Night Combat even has a co-op mode which is a mix of horde mode and tower defense. Unfortunately it only has ONE co-op map, so it's not really going to last, but it's certainly fun for what it is. The versus is where the real meat and potatoes are, but if you're like me and you can't find a competent team for 10 matches in a row, the experience is just killed. Maybe today I will win...
Anybody Kane and Lynch 2? ME, RIGHT HERE! My money is all over the parking lot, and I am ready to play it. I bought the first one after it got panned to death and got it for all of ten dollars. I couldn't believe how surprisingly good it was. I thought I was going to get a short afternoon of generic shooter to plow through, but it has some of the most unique level experiences I've played. Namely the club level. It's only the last quarter of the game where it takes a horrifyingly bad turn, and all of the reviews begin to make sense. It's like a bad "The Village" turn where the majority of the experience is very satisfying, but the moment it takes a turn for the worse, it gets really rough. But just like The Village, I still dig it, because when it was good, it was damn good. I highly recommend that you guys check out the Kane and Lynch 2 demo. Even with it being "another third person shooter," I think you'll be rather surprised at how unique it is due to the look and feel of the surroundings in combination with the visual filters. Just give it a shot. Yeah, I get it, you don't give a shit, just try it anyways.
On the topic of Dead Rising, has anybody checked out the live action episodes they've been putting out? I haven't bothered yet, but the preview I saw looked entertaining. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned on the raidio yet given X-Strike seems to love them some Dead Rising.
I'm still interested in Splatterhouse and giving it the benefit of the doubt. Worse comes to worst, all 3 of the original classics are going to be on the disc, so it's not like you'd be getting a horribly raw deal in the end. I'm hopeful that the near two year delay will give us a game that's at least entertaining even if completely unoriginal. We'll see.
Alright, this is an insane wall of text, and nobody's really going to read this anyways, so I'm cutting myself off here. I've got a round of Monday Night Combat to win. Hopefully.
i'll hit your ass and put a dimple!
