Banditlands

Postby bokista on Mon Jun 07, 2010 10:08 am

Between Fallout 3 and Borderlands, y'all have chosen some great subject material that is open to interpretation (and not to mention easy to shoot because you live in a wasteland). The Bandits are especially funny to focus on because they're so over the top but the player never gets to spend any time with them beyond shooting them in the face.

I like the filter you put on the world—it looks Borderlands-y enough without being overly distracting. The editing felt a little slow in places (like the bandits firing over the hill) but in general I liked the set-up and punchline delivery of the second half. Will you be doing the "training" bit for the other three classes? I could imagine how those would lend themselves to more humor than the Soldier (I hope you have a dead bird to chuck about).

Kudos on another good web short. I really like these things.

Thanks Bobby. Yeah, being in a wasteland was a definite motivator. Also I've been wanting to use that filter I tweaked with for a long time. If I can't draw cartoons, I might as well faux-rotoscope.

No training for the others, each skit is a lot different. As fun as those could be.

Hm. Those are both entirely from the new camera, still compressed in flash the same way though. What browser do you use? Both run smooth in Firefox and Safari for me. I'll be uploading to YouTube, but I want to get to the bottom of this obviously.

This project just blows me away. I friggin love it.

Web wise it may be something about file size. Sadly, all I can say right now is for you to pause it and let it buffer on its own. If you have done that and it still skips, PM me and we'll try to trouble shoot your problem.

It definitely sounds like a buffering issue. IE has no problems either. I always let videos fully buffer, no matter the length. I can't stand mid-content buffering. It makes me mad, like Hulk smash mad.

The Bandits are a lot of fun to play. I would definitely not be opposed to doing more of these if the initial series is well received.

The best thing about these shorts is they make me want to play Borderlands again.
