Ok, some thoughts on Silent Horror....
I bought the DVD from oneupstudios, along with
the soundtrack, and both are quite excellent.
Although it wouldn't be fair to compare a fan-made
movie to big budget productions, I have to say that
what the movie lacks in production value it makes up
by actually NOT somehow ignoring the original game
like almost every computergamemovie does.
(i.e Mario Bros. (shudder)).
The story is interesting, as are the locations,
which really remind me of the best scenes
in RE or SH games....
BTW Silent Hill 1 is WAY more scarier than
any RE game, ever.

The feeling of danger is greatly enhanced by
Dale Norths beautiful score, which has some
cool romantic themes as well.
Acting isn't always perfect, but it's fun to
watch; at least the characters are interesting
and not as cardboardish as your average
horror-movie character.
Direction and cutting is quite good,
the monsters look Silent-Hillish, only the
gore could have been a lot more gory
Did I already mention the story is
really good?

I made three video movies back in 1990-1992
with my friends, and we had problems to get
good effects back then, too. The coolest
scene we did back then was recreating the
"chestburster" scene from Alien 1, with fake torso
and glove puppet alien et. al.
So perhaps I like the movie because it
reminds me of what we did back then...

I still have to listen to the commentaries,
but I guess they are funny as well.

If you have any interest in survival games
at all, you should check out (i.e. buy)

I purchased the Silent Horror DVD at the Fort Washington convention last sunday. It was really fucking cool. I didn't think it was possible to make a good Silent Hill fan movie, but I was wrong. Survival horror is one of my favorite game genres and you guys did an excellent job of spoofing it.
"Its good to keep a well stocked inventory, you never know when you have to, refill and empty lighter, press down a switch with a weird looking statue..." I almost pissed my pants I was laughing so hard. The acting and Direction was very good, and the monsters looked like they belonged in Silent Hill! Very ambitious work! The gore was lacking though, check out the Reel Splatter message board at ReelSplatter.com for some cheap and easy gore fx. Also, another gut busting moment was when Gabrielle said, "What is a man, a miserable little pile of secrets!" and throws the wine glass down. Castlevainia: Symphony of The Night is one of the finest games around! I wanted to use that joke in one of our movies for years now. And the very end, when a voice announces, "self Destruct Sequence activated!" that was fucking beautiful! You guys know your stuff, and if your mission is to make video game movies that don't suck, I believe you suceeded in a most fantastic way!

My copy of the DVD just arrived today. I'm about an hour and fifteen minutes through it ("I found the key!" = hilarity) and really admire the work that went into this. Many of the survival horror cliches have been mocked and ridiculed wonderfully (see above quote) and I really like the three main characters chosen for the story so far.

The fx attempts really show how amateur the production is, but I'm more than willing to overlook where those effects are lacking for what you were attempting to get across. Good work overall (barring minor continuity & lighting issues) and I look forward to more movies from everyone involved. Keep it up!

Um, I think that were a few "back then's" too many....

Anyways, i just watched the actors commentary,
and it's even more fun than the movie
The warning "childish adult humor"
wasn't exaggerated!

Awesome as hell, and then some.

I especially liked the inventory, the random looting, and how it's just wrong to kick down the door...

And the whole out takes were awesome.

Oh hey, I just bought the DVD a few weeks ago, finally got around to watching it.
I just wanted to say it I really loved Silent Horror a lot.
I'm a huge fan of horror games, and I was able to get all the fun little jokes that were in the movie. I can tell the people who made this game really loved horror games, too.
Anyway, I'm a big fan of you guys now, and I look forward to future releases....

Maybe it was that I watched this with Wave Theory over the weekend, and they kept bringing up how it compared to Snake, but it didn't impress me very much :(

I did like the jokes relating to Resident Evil type stuff, and looting random chests from houses is a serious joke / commentary on the morals of RPG characters. The SotN joke made me roll on my side laughing, and I had to rewind it again so Alex could see it.

I think the main character and maybe the crazy guy were better actors than the rest of them - the female roll was awful. I could not get over her voice! Steve was okay, he ranged from good to terrible as did Tim but I do understand this is a dated film compared to, oh, say Nth Mile.

The soundtrack or what I remember of it anyway was well-done, and we had fun trying to find the cumshots. Good stuff.

River City Rumble is definitely the better of the two... lights and sounds were more noticeable in this film as needing work. Can't wait for the next couple of releases, though...
