So, you can probably note each time Lea's character has different ear rings then?

Official count is 203.

lordy lord. my count definitely isn't that high, but last week i watched this 3 times, one for each commentary including the new one. i already did project snake and rcr the weeks before that, so resident horror is next on the docket. then lastly p rappa and hopefully some magfest. awww yeah.

...oh and maybe rcr one more time so i can badger x-strike with some questions during the live commentary

the holiday seasons have basically become an x-strike viewing/leave it running in the background tradition to me at this point.

For the past 3 weeks, I have watched an X Strike movie every day. I've seen P. Rappa about 7 times, Project Snake 4 times, Silent Horror 4 times, RCR 3 times, and Resident Horror 3 times in that time period. I've been really bored waiting for Christmas break and needed to kill some time, so why not pop in the genius that is X Strike into my 360.

hahaha x-strike basically owns my xbox. if i'm not watching an x-strike movie in it, i'm probably fucking the horde with them(as rare as that may be). most of the gaming happens on the pc. but i'm glad that i'm not the only one who gets into the x-strike spirit this time of year. i have already started on the p rappa viewings, and it just holds a very special place in my heart. needless to say, i'm definitely excited for some live x-strike commentary

I find myself saying I'll hit your ass and put a dimple a lot and reciting the raps from P. Rappa. I love Juese's free style rap because he says he'll throw two blankets on top of you and give you a double dutch oven. I love all the raps though, even the Thomas Jefferson rap.

I watched Silent Horror for the 8th time recently. Or was it 10th? Anywho, still my all-time fave. "New chicken riblet sandwich" indeed!

My Silent Horror Review

Postby shadowdancer21b on Sat Oct 23, 2010 12:00 pm

Today I review X-Strike Studios second feature, Silent Horror. This is a parody of Silent Hill and other survival horror games. This one was directed by Rory O'Boyle and features Brett Vanderbrook in a leading role this time around playing Mark London. Also getting promoted from minor role status are Steve Smith and Rich Durham this time around. The film opens with Ross Busch and Sara Reis playing a couple whose car broke down (of course). They wander the woods while the girlfriend complains and the boyfriends behaves like a raver stereotype. They get separated (of course) and the boyfriend gets killed by an unseen foe (of course). The next scene we see Brett Vanderbrook struggle to stay awake while driving and collide (at low speed) with Steve Smith. Steve Smith picks himself up and exclaims "Ow, my pride". So we know he's okay.

Mark (Vanderbrook) explains to Simon Briggs, who goes by Briggs (Smith) that he came here to Quiet Knoll because he got a phone call from his friend who was supposed to have been dead for some time. They pick up Lea (Reis) and agree to take her to town for help so that the authorities will be notified of her boyfriend's death. We then learn the down is deserted but for monsters and the occasional cult member or crazy guy. We learn more about the dark pasts of each of our protagonists and at the end we even have a revelation that reveals the hand of the Parasol Corporation setting up the sequel, Resident Horror.

This film has some great atmosphere for actual scares, maybe. Scared my wife at least. I also got a little creeped out. Mostly though it is a comedy and it has a LOT of great jokes, especially referencing the conventions of survival horror games. Especially early Playstation horror games. The acting, as usual, is spot-on. My only complaint is with Sara Reis. I did not like her performance at all. I love this movie. It is, to date, my favorite X-Strike title. I give it 5/5. Also, in proper X-Strike fashion, loads of special features and even an easter egg. I also want to give special attention to the awesome soundtrack by Dale North.

That's so going on the box if we reprint it.

Forgive me for drudging such an old topic, but I had a query concerning Silent Horror. Specifically if it's still possible to get the bonus soundtrack listed on the main menu. By the time I bought the Silent/Resident bundle back in ~'09 the "*/shst.html" link was already returning a 404. I tried again just now to make extra super special sure before I asked about it and wound up with my foot in my own ass and it's still no longer valid. I'd always just counted it as a lost cause, but I figure I should ask given that I'm here now. It would go nicely with my Project Snake soundtrack.

I've discovered where I actually made my backup copy of the Bonus Soundtrack (Xbox 1, don't ask) and can easily add it to the unofficial X-Strike Dropbox Archives, but they of course get the final call on that one, since it is supposed to be just for those who bought the DVD.
I'm a bigger X-Strike fan than you.

Sure, that's fine. Just the BONUS soundtrack though.

Worth noting for those that might be interested in owning the original soundtrack in its entirety, I'm bugging Mr Dale North to put it up on bandcamp for the masses to consume.
