You know, I can look past the stupid fucking avatars as long as the gameplay is solid and it's 1200 points or less. While I'm pondering, I can only imagine what a full on modern day wrestling/lucha game from Grasshopper Manufacture would be like. Aside from being a day one purchase.

Besides even more third person shooting games being displayed(2011 is the year of the TPS), another Kinect specific horror trailer was shown for a game called Rise of Nightmares. The trailer was dark and brutal in tone, but very little is shown, and I don't think anybody actually knows what you even do in the game. At first I thought it was some sort of crazy gesture based torture simulator, but I think it'll be more like Matsuura's haunted house game except bloodier. Either way I'm interested in hearing/seeing more. Horror games being paired up with Kinect will always fascinate me regardless of how much I currently dislike the hardware.

The Last Guardian has a target release date for holiday 2011. No surprises there at all. The ICO/SotC collection will not only be re-worked with better textures and framerate, but it will also support stereoscopic 3D which is great news for pretty much nobody here since we're not rich or crazy enough to own the tech required. The scary thing is that 3D TVs that require glasses are already obsolete and they just came out. Glasses free 3D television is set to launch by this winter. Nothing like being rich enough to flush away thousands on a glasses required 3D TV that's barely compatible with anything to begin with, just to throw it out and upgrade to a newer 3D TV in a matter of months.

That's pretty much why I refuse to care.

What's sad is that all Avatar games are Avatarded. Fire Pro was never one to let you mess with torso proportions, taunts, walks, or any of the other features that we loved from Here Comes The Pain, so it's probably a bust.

The Fire Pro games still had a lot of customization options though and an amazing depth of gameplay. The problem for me isn't so much that the visuals are getting "Avartarded" its that the gameplay is sure to follow.

Super excited for From Software's Demon Souls follow up, Project Dark (working title I hope) even though they had little to show for it so far. I think a thematic sequel was the best choice in this situation. Plus its going multiplatform. I'd probably stick to the PS3 version but if it boasts online components similar to DS, I may have to consider the 360 version.

Speaking of From, I don't recall anyone mentioning Capcom has them working on a new STEEL BATTALION game for Kinect. Talk about something that could sell me on that thing...

At least playing it on a 48'' screen will result in a 24'' viewscreen inside the HUD.
One could then possibly see what the fuck is going on.

It's so fucking bizarre that they're making a sequel to the game with the most elaborate controller in the history of gaming, and putting it on a controllerless platform. I'm certainly intrigued, but I'm not much of a mech guy. Seeing the new control scheme is what interests me the most.

I obviously haven't played the Yakuza games, so I found that trailer really odd. I was of the mindset that the series is pretty realistic, is it not? That said, I don't think the zombiepacolypse was out there enough to be funny contrasting the seriousness. Am I wrong on this one? I'm certainly more interested in 1-3.

What I have taken away from the Yakuza games, most notably the recent ones, is the insane amount of detail they put into the city's environment, objects and people.

To me, this says they have no where to go except wacky.
This year is all about the wacky and over the top.

I figured you'd be excited in that news. I never bothered to give Earth Defense a shot because it looks way too generic, and the aliens just look like giant ants to me. Maybe if they changed the setting to the fifties and called the game "THEM!:The Video Game" I would be a little more interested.

As a fun little bonus, here's a picture of Criterion/Burnout superfanboy Suda finally getting his hands on their new Need for Speed project.

That's because they are in fact Giant ants. There are also giant fire ants (pallet swap) and giant spiders. And GIIIIIIAAAAANNNT queen versions of them. Then there's these flying alien fighter ships, huge walking robots, a ginormous walker, A humonguos death star like mothership, and i saved the best for last, Giant motherfucking T-Rexes! With robot parts! Image

While I'm still not entirely sold, giant half robot t-rexes definitely upped my interest.

If you check out this here interview with the developers of the new Devil May Cry, they say it took over a year just to finalize the look of the new Dante. What?

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/tgs-1 ... may/704980

The senior producer obviously respects the series and seems to get what makes a DMC game, so character design aside, I think the game is in safe hands. Or at least it could've been in way worse hands.

See I watched that video, and some extra bits on 1up earlier, and thought it reinforced my negative feelings towards the project. Not specifically the team, but also Inafune telling them to "c'mon, come back with something that makes us mad." As well as him not thinking Dante's design is still cool, this "underground" influence that, well, might be underground in Japan but is everywhere you look here, and I don't know anyone that would describe this new look as hip, or more hip than the last.

The only thing I liked out of that is that they implied he transforms a great amount through the game. Seeing that take place could be cool. I just hope his hair doesn't go white from the spOOOky torture chamber at the beginning of the TGS video.
