I love my DS Lite. It's got such a huge library of great DS and GBA games, many of which I haven't even got around to playing yet (I'm lookin' at you, Dragon Quest!). But in reading all the launch coverage of the 3DS, I was reminded that the DS launched in 2004. The hardware is seven years old. The system's launch release of Super Mario 64 had stoked my hope that the system's tech would allow for more modern, home-console-like game experiences, a hope that was never fully realized. Seeing the accolades for Super SF IV on 3DS makes me pine for a more powerful portable.

So I think I'm going to get a PSP. Most models can be had for about a hundred bucks now, and over the years, it has acquired a library of well-ported games that I've longed to have in my pocket (I'm lookin' at you, Soul Calibur!). That library gets even huger when you start looking at playing PS1 games on the go (I'm lookin' at you, Vagrant Story!). The homebrew scene can be difficult to follow, but from what I've gathered, all models, even the tough-nut-to-crack PSP Go, can now run emulators and UMD backups, meaning that whatever model I choose, a big ol' Memory Stick is all I need to keep a library of games on my person without swapping discs.

I'm particularly eyeing the Go, as it's more pocket-friendly, and my tiny girl hands probably won't mind the cramped controls. But I'm wondering if I should go for the larger screen of the more full-sized units. I don't mean to hijack the 3DS thread here, but I'd appreciate any input or suggestions from seasoned PSP owners.

If you get a PSP Go how are you going to fill out your back library with cheaply acquired UMD based games? Not to mention that there are many great PSP games that haven't had a digital release. I'd say get a 3000 model hands down. Cheaper and with more flexibility when you're purchasing games.

The over the shoulder "dynamic" view on street fighter is a waste of time. It's worst is when either player jumps and the camera stays centred on the other player, it feels wrong and wierd and doesn't work well at all.

I still want to get a PSP and a DS one of these damn days. There's just too many games on both that I'd love to play.

Let us not forget the "Bracer of Battery Life +2" when you all run out and snatch up those 3DS units.

takes about a minute to figure it out, it's very dependent on where you hold your head. Street Fighter is great, over the shoulder sucks. The built in AR content is fucking awesome. I watched my couch cushion turn into a mountain range with a dragon coming out of it.

3DS will be $169.99 as of August 12th. Early adopters get 20 free NES/GBA games for taking the plunge.

I am surprised that us early adopters were getting anything at all really, so I don't mind some free NES and GBA games  .

Yeah, I was pretty much expecting Nintendo to tell us all to suck their big moneycocks, but maybe it's starting to sink in that grandma isn't gonna buy all of their shit anymore.
Hopefully this move wakes them up and makes them realize that people want actual GAMES to go with their game systems.
Insane concept, I know, but true!

Even with the lower price, of which the UK price has still to be announced, i'm still not interested in the system because THERE'S NO FUCKING GAMES FOR IT! NOT A SINGLE ONE! A Zelda game I own in 3different ways already, A street fighter game I already own, a bunch of shit I don't care about and the next big game is ANOTHER FUCKING PORT! Of a game I, again, already own in 3ways! And they haven't even announced what they're calling the game from the n64 featuring a fox. You know the one, Lylat Wars. Oh wait, you know it as Starfox64. I actually think Lylat Wars is a better name anyway. For the uninformed and confused, in PAL land there was an old game on I believe the Commodore 64, called Starfox. So our version of the snes original was called Starwing. Again, a better name I think. Anyway, long story short, FUCK THE 3DS. At least for the time being.Wars. Oh wait, you know it as Starfox64. I got one at launch. Took a while for the thing to get games and stuff, but now, there's plenty of stuff I play on here. I'm really happy with it.
Pushmo is an awesome puzzle game.

Anyone else have one?
