Dammit, beat me to the thread creation punch by roughly 30 minutes.

I wouldn't, that is if I could play the game. 2 hours with it so far, still working on importing my face. EA shouldn't have released the game without fixing this, and I'm pretty pissed as I try and do the manual trick. http://social.bioware.com/forums/forum/ ... /3#9249327

Warning! Do not attempt to play this game if you have less than two hours to dedicate towards it.

You will just end up blue-balling yourself for more of the game/story.

Yeah this whole thing with the face importing is pretty incredible. I guess in the grand scheme of things having to recreate your Shepard's face isn't the worst thing in the world but given that the whole point of this series has been a certain level of persistence from one game to the next this is a pretty egregious oversight. You have to think they knew about this before releasing the game too which is doubly sad. I mean, this isn't really the type of thing where you just say you'll patch it later, this is literally the first thing that most players are going to try to do in the game. It just gives a really bad first impression. I actually can't remember whether or not I made tweaks at the beginning of ME2 but I'm guessing I didn't. Not looking forward to dealing with this when I get home.

My only beef that I've had with the save importing, is that the cyber-eyes I had in ME2's FemShep didn't translate over, even though they're the same texture that the Illusive Man has for his eyes.

'Course, I did some savegame editing to do that on PC. I'm certainly going to try using my xbox 360 controller with ME3. Hopefully, it's got the same seamless transition between controller/mouse and keyboard that Skyrim did.

Can't/won't/don't want to play it until I either get my face back or Bioware officially states that the problem is unfixable.

Do I think the game won't be worth it? no, I'm sure the game is amazing. am I boycotting like a butthurt fanboy? not quite, I just want my Shepherd, or to know I can't have him before I forge ahead. I'm not going to start without him if I can help it. It's an important part of the character and immersion. I don't want to be thinking about it obsessed of the game.

Am I the only one who couldn't give two shits about the way my character looks? I didn't realize it was that big of a deal.

Alright so I went the analog route for recreating my Shepard, which is to say, I loaded him up in ME2, took a picture and just eyeballed him to life in ME3. It took at least a half hour to get him to a point where I was satisfied but I got him there and actually in motion in the game he looks almost exactly like my Shepard. Basically it looks like the difference between a character rendered in an early 360 game versus a current one which kind of makes sense.

Anyway, time to take back the Earth.

No eyeballing got mine anywhere near. Boycotting no, but if I can't get my Shepard's face I'll probably return the game. I've never had the wind taken out of my sails like this that I can remember. My Shepard face is as important to me as her journey.

Wow - I am actually stunned that people feel this way. I just cannot fathom having that kind of attachment to the way a character looks. I am not knocking you for it at all, I just cannot imagine feeling the same way.

That's because you're a soulless machine. To me it's like if they recast Indiana Jones for The Last Crusade. Or Aragorn for Return of the King. Or Ice Cube for Friday After Next. Maybe not that last one, but when you invest yourself in a piece of visual fiction, a major character suddenly looking completely different is kind of a big deal. It doesn't necessarily ruin the experience but it's REALLY distracting and like I said earlier, when you consider what the selling point of the series has been since its inception, it's pretty inexcusable.

I think I was able to successfully get my face in because my Shepard was fairly straightforward looking though when I was going through it just felt like parameters were missing or different. I consider myself lucky and I still think it's completely stupid that Bioware let this happen. If you have fans that could figure out a workaround the FIRST DAY of release, I would hope that you could have put something together in the 2+ years this game has been worked on.
