FEZ!

Oh my god best downloadable title of the year winner already.
The music is truly beautiful and amazing, the art style is absolutlely gorgeous and it plays great.

One reservation, the jumping is a little floaty and takes some getting used to. I missed platforms a few times the first hour in. But oh my god Fez was worth the wait and the hype :D

I think I am the only person in the world who isn't interested in this game (just like Braid). I do want the soundtrack though.

The first half hour of this game nearly brought a tear to my eye, I loved it so much. Just the nostalgia rush and the chills that intro sequence delivers...my god. The game is mostly an explore and collect fair, but it flows similar to Metroid, or even more appropriately VVVVVV. It even feels like a spiritual successor to VVVVVV in the sense that they pay homage to the classics, they're based around one very simple mechanic, and they have ass shatteringly amazing soundtracks. It's a must own for anybody on these forums, even you Jakanden. Spend your 10 dollars, kick back, and relax with this simple and beautiful game. Or fuck it, just turn it on for the soundtrack, it's still worth the money.

Oh and fuck Braid.
i'll hit your ass and put a dimple!

I have zero interest in this game. I do not like Puzzle Platformers and after watching the first level of this game it is exactly the kind of game I do not enjoy. Playing the demo only confirmed it for me.

Yeah, I totally love this game. It's a lot more Metroid (Hurray!) than it is something like Braid (Booooo)

. So weird that somehow Skullgirls is 'only' the second best game to hit this week.

yeah I spent a couple of hours last night understanding how the map works and then trying to clear out some areas i've already been to rather than opening up more.
Oh I found a QR code in game which was practical. 4th wall broken, awesome. reminds me of when games came with paper maps that helped solve puzzles, like the famous putting the map in water one.
I could just put the music on and look at this game for hours. Just sit and take in the gorgeous visual style.

I'm coming across a lot of rooms with secrets that I just don't know what the hell to do with. With some there's clearly a puzzle that needs solving that I can't quite put together but others don't seem to have anything of note. Just wondering if I'm being a complete dumbass or whether some of them aren't solvable until later on in the game. I have well over 16 cubes and am only now backtracking to open the 4/8/16 doors towards the very beginning of the game. Still a lot of territory to explore.

I'm finding the same thing, there seems to be some strange language in thegl game with symbols representing letters. I'm assuming i'l gain the ability to read it/find a translation document somewhere and then be able to go back later and do those parts.

Alright I finished the game once through. Once you finish the game you unlock New Game + (yay!) and you also gain an ability that will make solving some of those puzzles possible. So at this point I'm combing back over the world trying to figure out puzzles and collecting cube chunks that I missed the first go around. Some of the puzzles are...tough to say the least. There is a set of symbols which correspond to an alternate alphabet, as well as a a numbers system, as well as another set of symbols that correspond to inputs on the controller. It all seems crazy and makes no sense at first but there's hints all over the game that will help you piece things together. That said, it definitely takes some pretty strong logical deduction to puzzle some of these things out. I also love all the QR code stuff. Reminds me of your uncle's letter from Startropics.

I also.finished it this afternoon. Didn't try New Game + yet, good to know it will help me get everything I missed. This is a game I will see/get everything in it.
Ahh Startropics that was the thing I was trying to remember, I think I referenced it either on here or on facebook.
I figured those strange symbols were some sort of alphabet and I would get an "enigma machine" of sorts somewhere

See, I haven't found any items that totally lay out the Fez alphabet for me but there are clues to be found scattered around the world. It's more a matter of piecing things together. There's just so damn much sneaky shit going on in this game and I'm constantly discovering new things. They did an awesome job of providing a solid layer of game for someone who just wants to zip through and see the world, and then a deeper layer for players who really like to explore every inch of a game world.

Thought this might interest you guys: Practically impossible: The quest to decipher Fez's cryptic final puzzle

"I can't say I know [designer Phil Fish's] true intention with this puzzle, but after hearing his comments over the past few months, I might guess that he wanted to frustrate people," Reyher said. "One of the forum posters mentioned that the solution to the monolith was probably encoded by the phrase 'fuck you.'" (Polytron refused a request for comment for this story).

Wouldn't put it past him as everything I have read says he is a dick. Regardless, people are way more dedicated to games than I because I would have said "Fuck this" after about 10 minutes lol.

I spent an hour in Zu (possibly Zv but that makes less sense) decrypting the alphabet by talking to people and analyzing the glyph frequency. For the number system, I think I'm close but missing something.
