i don't know if gamestop is running the same deal or not....

but, when stopping by our local ebgames store this evening, we were informed by our favorite manager mark, that starting sunday, and running until the ds launches on june 11th, if you turn in your old nintendo ds they will give you $70 of trade towards the ds lite. leaving only $60.

i am seriously considering this. especially since i've had my system since launch, so it's getting kinda beat up. still works like new though. the only thing stopping me is :
1: kinda want to hold onto the ds. just like i wish i never sold my original gameboy
2: want to hold out until i can get it in another color than cocaine white. wish were getting the black one. but that's a special one for europe only.

I'd hold off on the Lite until you try it and make sure you like it.

It's made of the same plastic that ipods are made of, making it really vulnerable to fingerprints and scratches, even more so than the current model. It's also more susceptible to cracks, as well, without a protective cover.

The D-pad is very close to the edge of the unit, and the pins inside are supposed to be less responsive, which is one of the problems with the PSP.

Plus, mine's bright enough, i dunno if it really needs to be brighter.

Yea, i hear you on the color issue... white is NOT the way to go.

yeah, the brightness isn't a factor for me. it's the size. becuase it's kinda hard to fit my jeans pocket. when i am carrying my bag, no biggie, but i'm not always carrying it.

as for the color. i can't stand white electronics. which is honestly one of the reasons i did not get and ipod when i was in the market for an mp3 player. (mind you, that was before the colors were easily available) to me white belongs on kitchen appliances.

i may have to use one first. they do seem like they were be more fragile, but at the same time, it is nintendo, and they do know how to make a sturdy rugged peice of equipment. so, we'll see.

Are you referring to the new Video ipods or the older generation? Cause you can quote me on saying that the video ipod's surface seems to scratch just by breathing on it. I really hope this isnt the case with Lite.
And also, didn't they announce another color other than white to be available?

Pappy has a DS Lite and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the Lite is so so so so so much better than the Phat.

It really is what the DS should've been all along.

Stanley, I can answer that question (as can just about any informational site on the DS Lite): Yes. Screens are the same size.

And yeah, I preordered the white one. It'll match all my other astronautish white electronics.

Anyway, I'm not getting a Lite just because I'm of the mindset of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." There's just not enough of a draw for me to even concider buying a new one or trading in my old one for it.

i played one today. and then held mine up to. and jesus that thing is bright! the colors on screen look so much better.

Brightness has never been a problem with my "fatty" DS, the glare has. Unless the DS Lite has glare protection, count me out.

yeah, it's true that they were selling them. walmart as well. and they have both been fined alot of money for breaking street date.

but no, that's not how i played one. guy i know who works at eb has had one for months. (import) but, i went to my local circuit city to buy a camera, and they had one there playing the demo for new smb. grantes, you can't take it out of it's little security thing and see how it fits in you pocket, but, it is usefel to get a feel of the new size.

I haven't been playing my DS much since I mostly beat all of my DS games or got bored with them. I may get the Lite when it comes out in another color. I hope it comes out in pink :3

I'm keeping my DS Phat, I want to keep all of my old model systems. I really wish my GBA didn't break. ;_;

I don't thinkI could upgrade simply because I've spent too much time personalizing my DS. its got two dangly chains of mario and a goomba, positioned at just the right length to look like Mario's jumping on him. Oh! AND its on fire. Just ask Darrin.
