I've seen it more than a hundred times and I haven't gotten tired of it yet. I like a movie that can stand to be replayed.

I've seen it 3 times, and my favorite fight scene is still the Ekkebus/Darrin fight in the warehouse. Keeps me wanting more, makes me laugh every time. Good job on that one

You know...not too long ago I had some guy offer to take me on a date back to his place, and watch some "River City Rumble". Yup..that's all I have to say.

I loved how Ryan's hand got hit with the pipe when he was doing the Keanu Reeves impression of the Matrix. I don't like that guy. He freaks me out.

i've personally gotta give it up to ron as sid the squid and casey as blade. almost every line those guys had were gold. very well delivered as well. also, give that guy who played merlin a pat on the back. the way he said his dialogue is what made it great. considering this is pretty much ekkebus' directorial debut(i think), i'd have to give him a lot of credit for such a fantastic title and entry into the videogame movie genre.

also, the "you...are the frat guys." "but i'm scared..." scene kills me.
i'll hit your ass and put a dimple!

Love it!

As someone who turned down buying Super Mario bros 3 at the peak of its popularity in order to buy RCR, I had to get the movie the second I saw the trailer online, and never in my wildest dreams did I expect it to be as well made as it was.

In all the X-strike movies, I'm constantly shocked by the quality of the films, considering the level of the budget. The acting is also good, and RCR is hilarous! I've already gotten most of my friends to see it, and some became as rabid an x-strike fan as I am!

I'm sorry to see that Ben Lathan isn't doing as much as he used to, because he's been one of my favorite X-strikers. The 'sand in hair' scene in Off Campus always kills me.

Well, I've begun to ramble, but RCR was amazing, and Silent Horror was just as good! I can't wait for Snake!

First time watching an X-strike production

Postby Jace Seele on Mon Jan 16, 2006 10:51 pm

The amount of ass this move kicks is tremendous. Innumerable, even. Rail said that I should watch this one first, and I can't wait until I see Silent Horror.

You guys are fucking awesome!

Thanks Jace. The asses RCR kicks were counted once, verified, then ran outside when we left to get Soul Calibur II and were never seen again.

Great movie! Best videogame movie ever (so far)

Postby Hyperfusion on Wed Feb 01, 2006 2:42 pm

Each of my friends who I have showed this to have enjoyed this movie greatly, noticing many of the other videogame and anime spoofs.. including Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z (obvious), and many more. I think I may have watched it -too- many times, because I noticed Ekkebus complaining in the warehouse fight, saying "Sucks being Rocko right now." Perhaps a missed edit or such? Either way, it actually makes the movie funnier, in my own opinion. Though, out of curiousity.. did anyone else catch that? o.O; Overall, so far.. many of the statements on this review page, I must agree with whole-heartedly. Kudos, X-Strike.. hope to see more of your movies!

Nah, that was actually supposed to be heard, but the music covers it up somethin fierce. But good job to you, I had to be told that there was a line there.

Wow, that's actually a surprise. Ahh well. I'm the kind of person that listens for stuff like that, or looks for the little quirks, mishaps, or bad shots. After I watch the movie enough times.. you know, things that make it funny. In regards to it being an actual line.. one things comes to mind: Feel sorry for that NES sprite that had to play Rocko, then! Guess that's what happens when the CPU comes up with a random number to determine the unlucky one.

I've long been a huge River City Ransom whore, so once I had a PayPal account and somewhat randomly ran across information on Rumble again, I ordered right away. Bear in mind, for the same price I could've instead purchased both Weekend at Bernie's movies!

Upon first viewing I was a bit nonplussed. Many of the jokes were groaners, and much of the "acting" was mostly an attempt to disguise smiles. Still, as a Ransom fan there was nothing like it, and I was glad to have put my support behind fellow nerds doing something I can't possibly find elsewhere. How many others movies will directly reference a joke from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II and follow it up with throwing an unconscious body as a weapon?

I'm much, much more satisfied after checking out all the extras, though. Soon after first watching the movie, I told someone that it worked best if you were a huge RCR fan or knew the people who made it personally. This post is the closest to any real contact I've had with any X-Strike folks, but after the great commentaries and MAGFest documentary I feel much more familiar with the group and get more out of the movie. I cannot stop watching Niggaz for Life. >_<

River City Rumble I bought because I've been a big River City Ransom fan for... nearing two decades. I've been known to sing to the game music. Silent Horror will be purchased because X-Strike seems like something worth following and the trailer was pretty cool, in spite of the fact I've never touched a Silent Hill game.

I'll let the director/writer respond more fully, but I think your reaction to RCR is the paradigm example. I'm proud to say that each movie since then has been bigger, badder, better than the previous (I will have Ekkebus hit me for quoting that).

If you like Silent Horror (or even if you don't), check out Project Snake and Nth Mile in the next couple months. Each one carries its own weight, and yet maintains the distinct x-strike flavor that comes from aging the video in fine, oaken barrels.

And yes, it's my job to sell them.

Well like Rory, I'm not going to spend the rest of my life making excuses for everything that didn't work with RCR. We did our best, a lot of people really like it and I'm glad you got the most out of the DVD.
